Your balloon safari begins early in the morning when the winds are calmest and the wildlife is most active. After a quick pre-flight briefing, you’ll lift off into the dark pre-dawn sky, ascending as the sun rises to reveal the lush golden grasslands of the Serengeti below. During the approximately one-hour flight, you’ll have the chance to see the park’s diverse ecosystems, including rivers, forests, swamps, and of course, lots of animals. From lofty heights, spot elephants wandering along seasonal migration routes, hippos returning to water after a night’s grazing, and even the elusive predators like lions or cheetahs stalking their prey.
Itinerary Sample
4:30 AM: Depart from your lodge to the balloon launch site.
5:15 AM: Enjoy a hot coffee or tea as you watch the balloon inflation.
5:30 AM: Board the balloon basket for takeoff just before sunrise.
5:30-6:45 AM: Balloon flight over the Serengeti, covering different terrains and spotting a variety of wildlife.
6:45 AM: Land on the plains, often with animals scattered below.
7:00 AM: Celebrate your flight with a champagne toast followed by a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush.
9:00 AM: Return to your lodge with a game drive en route, giving you another chance to encounter animals.
Hot Air Balloon Safaris are available to guests aged 7 and above and can accommodate up to 16 people per balloon. Flights are highly dependent on weather conditions, and bookings are necessary. We offer this experience year-round, but for the best wildlife viewing, we recommend scheduling during the dry season from June to October.
