What is the Migration?<\/strong>
The migration is a continuous, circular movement of wildlife between Tanzania\u2019s Serengeti and Kenya\u2019s Maasai Mara, driven by rainfall and the growth of new grass. Migration Route and Timeline<\/strong><\/p>

Late December to Early March \u2013 Calving Season (Southern Serengeti\/Ndutu)<\/strong>
This period marks the birthing season, with over 500,000 calves born in just a few weeks. The lush Ndutu plains offer excellent grazing, attracting large herds. This is also prime time for predator action, as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs prey on the vulnerable young.<\/p>

April to May \u2013 Movement Towards the Central and Western Corridor<\/strong>
As the plains dry, the herds begin moving northwest through the central Serengeti toward the Grumeti River. The long rains make the grasslands rich, and this phase sees scattered groups spread across vast landscapes. Some camps close during this time due to muddy conditions.<\/p>

June to Early July \u2013 Grumeti River Crossing (Western Serengeti)<\/strong>
Herds gather at the Grumeti River, facing one of their first major challenges: crossing crocodile-infested waters. This is a quieter phase compared to the Mara crossing, offering more intimate sightings with fewer tourists.<\/p>

Mid-July to Mid-October \u2013 Mara River Crossings (Northern Serengeti)<\/strong>
Arguably the most dramatic part of the migration, the herds reach the northern Serengeti and cross the Mara River multiple times. These crossings are iconic, thrilling, and highly photogenic. Predators, crocodiles, and chaos make this a bucket-list experience.<\/p>

November \u2013 Return South<\/strong>
